honestbeef Oriental Beef Skewers

  • 750g blade or round steak
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon dry sherry
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • ½ teaspoon sesame oil
  • Bamboo skewers
Slice steak across the grain into 5mm strips and place in a bowl.
Mix remaining ingredients and pour over beef.
Leave to marinate at room temperature for 1 hour, mixing occasionally to coat evenly.
Soak skewers in hot water for 30 minutes.
Remove beef strips from marinade and thread onto skewers.
Cook under a preheated very hot grill, or on the BBQ, for about 3 minutes, turning once and brushing with marinade.
Serve skewers on a bed of rice, or push meat off skewers into bread pockets with your
favourite salad or vegetables.
