honestbeef Carbonnade of Beef

Ingredients
  • 1kg blade steak
  • 1 packet French Onion soup mix
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 250ml beer
Method
 
Cut steak into 2.5cm cubes. Put soup mix In a plastic bag, add beef & shake to coat.
Tip into a casserole dish.
Mix brown sugar and mustard and add to beef with the bay leaf.
Pour beer over beef and cover tightly.
Place casserole in a medium oven and cook for  1 ½ - 2 hours.  Stir once during cooking.
Serve with crusty French bread and a green salad for a hearty, healthy meal!
